The drawings in this group come from Osberton Hall in Nottinghamshire where they were kept since the death of their collector Sir Francis Foljambe (1750–1814). Rediscovered only at the beginning of this century, they escaped nearly 200 years of art historical scholarship and thus allow an unfettered view on questions of authorship and attribution.
