Morane 38This print, together with Le Chemin de la croix (Morane 41, see our catalogue no. 9), was conceived as part of an album of six lithographs announced in the third number of L’Ymagier in April 1895. However, this project was never completed. An edition of twenty-five of this print was printed on fine Italian laid paper (papier de riz).

In terms of subject matter this print belongs to the group of religious images of the 1890s. However, it is technically very different. Executed in crayon rather than pen it seems to have been drawn on a lithographic stone.
